I've got some bad news for Windows Phone 8.1 device
owners, Microsoft has officially announced that the Windows 10 Mobile update
for older devices will start rolling out early next year.
Microsoft previously stated that the Lumias running
Windows Phone 8.1 would be getting Windows 10 update in December this year,
though now it has past the middle of the month already, the official time frame
change has been made official.
As published in zdnet.com, the official statement
from one of company spokesperson reads:
"This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones."
And the most disturbing thing is that the time frame
stated lately doesn't exactly clarify the time as the early next year may mean as
late as April, and it is also unknown which Windows Phone 8.1 devices would get
the Windows 10 update as well.
Currently The Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL and
budget friendly Lumia 550 runs on Windows 10 OS for Mobile devices. So, now
Windows 10 Christmas present for Windows Phone 8.1 owners, hopefully Microsoft
releases the Windows 10 update soon. We will let you know if anything new we
come up with, so visit us regularly for further news updates.
